PC Magazine Celebrates its 25th Anniversary with the the Launch of the Digital Love Program
June 25, 2007 11:05 amFor the past quarter century, PC Magazine has been the leading authority on technology issues, trends and products. To honor its 25th anniversary, PC Magazine has a full slate of editorial initiatives, programming and philanthropy, including the launch of the PC Magazine Digital Love program, an initiative that provides computer technology to people with disabilities, students at risk and economically-disadvantaged persons. The icing on the celebratory cake: an elite group of bold-faced names has joined with PC Magazine to offer their tech predictions for the next 25 years. This project will culminate in a summit of tech leaders and will appear in the 25th Anniversary Commemorative Issue.
“It’s amazing how rapidly technology has changed since we launched in 1982,” said PC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jim Louderback. “We’ve been honored to share these years with millions of readers, helping to guide them through the evolving tech landscape, and toast our future with worthy programs such as the PC Magazine Digital Love program.”
Special 25th anniversary initiatives include:
PC Magazine 25th Anniversary Programs and Events:
- Digital Love Program: PC Magazine has partnered with the National Cristina Foundation to create the Digital Love Program to enable staff and readers to donate technology to needy organizations, such as schools and non-profits. PC Magazine has donated 200 pieces of equipment to date.
- Anniversary Celebration Event: Hosted by PC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jim Louderback with VIP guests, including industry leaders; a “Then and Now” technology exhibit; unveiling of a 25th anniversary commemorative guitar.
25th Anniversary Commemorative Issue: Hitting newsstands December 4, this must-read issue will focus on the future of technology, detailing next wave technologies, gear and innovators, including:
· Guest Columnists: Bold-faced names from media, entertainment, sports and business will offer their predictions for the next quarter century in tech.
· Top 25’s: PC Magazine will rank the most important products, people and developments of the past 25 years, and will look back onto some of the biggest misfires.
· Future Tech: Predictions from PC Magazine editors for the next 25 years and analysis of 25 key technologies to watch.
· Top Tech Innovators of Tomorrow: Profiles of the 25 most promising innovators who are just beginning to make their marks.
· Hello from Year 2032: PC Magazine columnists, from John Dvorak to Lance Ulanoff, will pen their columns from the future.
“25 Years of PC Magazine,” A Special Year-Long Editorial Feature: Each issue commemorates 25 years at the forefront of technology with a look back to an individual year that PC Magazine has been published. Components including:
- Profiles of innovators who made a breakthrough in personal technology.
- Significant product launches, discoveries, news and events—in tech and beyond.
- PC Magazine’s original review of a key product that shaped that year, with pros and cons, then/now comparisons and category predictions.
