Watch out, touch screens. You may be hot now, but one Intel executive predicts voice recognition will eventually make you obsolete.

Mooly Eden, the Intel senior vice president who oversees the company’s “perceptual computing” operations, told CNET today that voice recognition will do to touch what touch has done to physical keyboards — making many things unnecessary.
I call BS.
It would be awesome but with every person’s nuances in their voice patterns it just wont be 100% accurate. I could see for a few phrases with training the device to recognize similar words as the person speaks but think of a New Yorker and a Southern belle….yea, let’s see that voice recognition understand full paragraphs from each of them at 100% accuracy.
Even Star Trek couldn’t have full voice control.
Also, has anyone used any of the voice dictation software? WOW, just WOW. So many errors, especially with our complex English language…to, too, two….write, right….you can see how this is going to need a lot more than just voice recognition. This will need a full AI that is capable of understanding the flow of a sentence in order to use the appropriate spelling of the word needed. Sorry Hal, you just aint that good.
“Computer? Oh computer…??”
Imagine working in an open or cubicle office with 50 people talking to their computers at the same time.
You forget about cellphones? Aiyeeeee!
