iPhone 5 versus Galaxy S3

From The Inquirer:

The Apple Iphone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 are the closest rival devices for top honours on the smartphone scene today, thanks to the ongoing patent war between the two companies.

Bitter rivals the two companies might be in courtrooms, but both handsets managed to win us over when we reviewed them, each scoring nine out of 10.

The Iphone 5 arrived just weeks ago with a 4in Retina display, an upgraded processor chip and a slimmer rectangular design. At its launch it was faced with the Galaxy S3 with its own 4.8in touchscreen, quad-core chip and a more streamlined design.

We’ve pitted the two smartphones head to head to see which one really comes out on top.

About a month ago I bought an S3 and am completely happy with it. I’d recommend it to anyone. And besides it’s purty unlike the clunky iPhone design.

  2. Oldster says:

Yeah, well, I’m old and cranky. I even have an Android tablet.

  3. Steve says:

I’ve had my S3 about the same length of time as Oldster, and I love it, too. The simple fact that I don’t have to submit to Apple’s approval process is one of the things I love. My Transformer Prime just updated to Jelly Bean tonight, and I hear an update is on the way for the S3, too.

I wont pay more than $50 for a phone when I upgrade. I figure with the amount of money we spend on the overpriced data plans, they should supply the phones super cheap!

I would take an S3 over an iphone5.

I have an android tablet and an Android 1 phone. I’m not old.

  6. Oldster says:

Both my S3 and the original Xoom tablet that I have are running Jelly Bean. And for MFORRY, if you don’t want to pay that data fee (and I didn’t) you might want to look at Ting.com. They only charge you for the time. texting and data that you actually use. My phone bill last month was under $30. You choose a level for minutes, data and texting. If you go over the amounts you chose they just bump you up to the next level and refund anything you didn’t use. At the rate I’m going this month my texting and data next month will be free. The only drawback is you have to buy your phone (as of now) but they are working on a way to bring your own phone. Worth checking out anyway.

Thanx Oldster but with our family plan and the thousands of texts the step-kid does monthly, it is probably cheaper to stay on the Verizon plan for now lol

My tablet runs WebOS and Android =) Yea, wife and I got the touchpads when they clearanced them. Worth every penny!

  8. MForry says:

Just checked Ting Oldster and I got this…

“Ting might treat you better, but we would not be cheaper than your current plan.”

;) wouldnt be bad for just the wife and I but with the kid on ours it just kills it.
