Well known maker of high quality PC system cases Lian Li, is introducing the PC-D8000, a monster-sized floor standing case with the headline feature of being able to hold a full 20 3.5 inch hard disc drives! Not only that, but it also has space for 6 5.25 inch bays too.

The case is of gargantuan proportions, being 405mm wide, 572mm tall and 628mm deep. This allows the 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch bays to actually sit side by side in two long columns. Also, it can accommodate much longer graphics cards than would normally be made, at 410mm or 16 inches, meaning that it can take the very biggest graphics cards on the market with ease.
Is this just a case of wretched excess?
No, I don’t think so.
This would make an amazing case for a HTPC for someone like me that has hundreds or thousands of dvd/bluray discs. You can rip everything to hard drives and have all your media in one place. Now of course you would need a RAID card to support all those drives and I am curious how well the case would keep everything cool.
If I had the money for a RAID card to support 20 drives and the money to buy the drives, I would snag it. My dvd and bluray look very nice displayed in the 3 wall tower cases I have but they take up a LOT of room.
