I tried to boot up my computer, and this is all I get on 10 attempts. The hard drive sounds like it’s spinning. No recent hardware changes. All thoughts appreciated…
I guess it’s gonna be one of those days!

Took a look, thanks for the info. Folsk are blaming spyware, or an automatic upgrade. Not really sure, but they are the usual suspects. I dug out the Windows XP disk, but it won’t even let me boot the disk, it crashes right into the same blue screen. Frustrating!
Keep us posted though on whatever you end up finding out if you don’t mind.
What’s frustrating about searching for solutions is that many times one person’s solution has no effect on the problems we encounter (meaning I’ve installed several “bad” updates with no ill effects whatsoever even though everyone swears what they have discovered is the culprit….)
Good luck!
You have a Windows recovery disk?
Did you boot into safe mode?
You should be able to use recovery console to repair the XP system files. Make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD before the hard drive.
I have the Windows XP Pro disc. The system is set to boot from the CD, and then the hard drive.
With a new hard drive in, the on the old one, one of the two partitions is completely corrupt, and no data is readable. Very frustrating.
Ouch! I’d scan for a virus, but now a days, malware can do the same. You mite want to invest in a data recovery package, just because windows can’t see it dosen’t mean it’s not there. One other option is looking at it from Linux, if you still have it loaded on one of your boxes.
